Hitachi has a 3yr warranty so it might be worth contacting Hitachi. Any 2.5" hard drive will work. Most commonly used hard drives in the Transmonde notebooks were Hitachi & IBM. Fujitsu and Toshiba have also been tested and works fine. On the SE there might be a size limitation...the largest one tested was the IBM 18GB.
