Hi Allen,

Thanks for the information regarding the BIOS file. I
don't know how to check them other than loading them,
but I agree this is dangereous. The specs for the Canary
series almost identically match the ones for the XL ( the
modem is different ). You can even download the user's
guide and compare some pictures.
I tried to contact ASE to obtain parts for the Canary
series (I am after a port replicator ). I was told that
ASE no longer manufactures laptops, so no parts are
available. Real bummer.
