I got very similar errors (bad checksum, losing time, floppy disk controller errors) a couple months back on my Vivante XL. I don't know much about the Vibrant LS, but all I had to do was unscrew the large panel on the bottom surface of the computer, pluck out the old battery, and pop in a new one. It needed a common lithium camera battery that I found at a supermarket. The new battery fixed ALL of the problems.

I have heard tales of CMOS batteries that are extremely difficult to locate due to poor design by Transmonde. I do not know which models were made this way.

Good luck!
Shane
