for sharing your problems and insightful solutions. I was feeling mighty low when my wonderful Transmonde Vivante XL started exhibiting the symptoms described here concerning the CMOS battery. I didn't have a clue. Now after following the advice so generously given, a $3 battery from Radio Shack and a very sharp Exacto knife have extended the life of this $3500 investment made in September 1998.
Best regards, Jack
