I have had to throw out SO MANY CD players and
radios because of this same problem. It will
get worse if not fixed. The connector is soldered
to the circuitboard and the more pressure it takes
to keep a contact, the sooner it will break completely.
(The whole connector may be loose, or maybe the
spring has just gone out of the contact strip...)
This type of connector is a problem waiting to happen.
Not sure if your warranty will cover it. Worth a try.
The original poster's battery should not have worn out
so quickly, but maybe the flaky power connection is
the cause of that.
