I have used this method many times with other laptops with no problems. I also use suspend to RAM (win98) but this takes a bit longer to power back up.

Why do you feel the problem with the flicker is movement. Didn't you mention to me that you "lightly" shook your computer which resulted in no flicker. It appears to be independent of movement, or at least, only provoked by random movements that you can't predict.

My computer is once again at Transmonde. They've had it now for going on 2 weeks. If it is movement related they probably won't find the problem since they probably sit it on someone's desk and use it until it flickers.

Dave Robinson, the CTO at Transmonde had this to say about the flicker problems he has seen:

"On the flicker - this is not something we'd seen on any of our products until fairly recently. In the cases I've reviewed, the actual cause seems to vary - in some it's the LCD backlight, in others the inverter that supplies power to the backlight, and others it's the LCD itself. We're working with our engineers back in Taiwan, and with our LCD suppliers to see if there is something common to all of these."

Besides myself and you I have seen one other posting regarding LCD flicker at http://www.egroups.com/group/transmonde/. Now there are at least 3 of us. Perhaps now would be a good time to re-address the problem with Transmonde.
