Well - I put the computer in the mail on Thursday.
Today about the middle of the afternoon a box was
sitting on my office desk. The invoice says
"replaced computer" on it. I opened it up, and sure
enough there was a whole new computer inside.
It says "Vivante SE" under the screen, much to my
relief, but the case is a bit different than
my October 1998 model.

Now to stick my hard drive in and see if the
linux config still works. My guess is that the
new one has the 69000 rather than the 65555.
Crossing my fingers on the dead-pixel front.

Well, maybe our problems were different.
I never actually talked to them on the phone
after I sent it in, figuring that it would
still be there today. So I don't know exactly
what they saw. I hope the situation
with yours gets cleared up soon!
