This is very sad. This terribly unfair on the time and effort spent by people on this board (Jessica and John in particular) have spent promoting Transmonde.

In this world volume, margins and cash flow count more than service.

Yes, Transmonde might have had a "big" company behind them. However,ASE was playing beyond its core competency. Also Taiwanese companies are no mugs. They know when to pull out, unlike some other Asian companies that come to mind.

I suspect that ASE examined Transmonde business model and figured out that the volume required to stay in business was beyond reach at the current razor thin margins. Also Transmonde probably spent far more on customer support than a firm its size could afford to. Economies of scale count.

The so-called inventory shortage might have been a classic case of running down the inventory systematically to extract as much money as possible.

First the 13 inch Vibrant LS was sold out. Then the 12 inch Vibrant LS. And finally the 14 inch Vivante.

If they had made this anouncement at the time the 13 inch was sold out they would have never been able to sell the rest of their inventory.

I suspect most of the staff at Transmonde were not told about this. They were dupped along with the customers.
