I cut the two pieces of cardboard to fit with about 1/8" clearance on all sides (inside the "strips"). That included a rectangular cutout for the ribbon cable on one piece, and a small rectangular extension (to go under the arrow keys) on the other. I didn't provide any additional air holes.

Perhaps Trent could enlighten us about the need (if any) for air flow under the keyboard. Trent, are you there?
