Date Posted: 13:53:04 09/05/02 Thu I didn't know anyone personally that was hurt or killed that day, but I still felt it. I had gotten the kids off to school that morning and was just doing some laundry and decided to turn on the television to watch the "Today Show" when I first heard (and saw) the news of the terrible tragedy that happened that morning. I turned it on just in time to see the second airplane hit the towers, and then we all knew that it wasn't just an accident as first reported. I noticed that within the next few hours after that just how many people decided to fly their flags and show their American pride. I was making some crafts (red, white, and blue earrings) before the attacks and had run out of red beads. There was not a store in town that had any. They were all out of red and blue and low on white beads everywhere. You couldn't find a flag to buy either. The only question I had at the time (besides why it happened) was why it took an attack on our country for everyone to all of a sudden show that they are proud to be Americans! Why couldn't the flags have been flying before September 11? It is also interesting how things changed overnight from criticism of our President to support of his decisions. These are things that should have been seen before America was attacked. Of course this is all in restrospect and it is too late to change the past. I think we just need to find a way to make things better for the future and try to learn from something from the past. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
