Hello My Old Friends.

I haven't been turning on the computer for quite awhile, so
had over 2000 Ems to delete. (Much of it spam -- How they
get me I don't know) Anyway while here I caught up partially on the DB. Got to the Barbie posts. Had to laugh at myself because, my daughter Catherine got out her old
Barbies (3)recently to refresh my fading memories.
I couldn't afford to buy clothing for her dolls, so made
most of them out of scraps from clothes I made for her &
myself.
I was very prudish in my designs, not quite the "holy roller" type, but certainly not the more modern "bare" crap
I have seen peddled for Barb. They mostly followed the
idea of having Barb dressed much like the clothes I made
for Catherine & myself. Catherine confessed to me that she
was embarrassed to play with some of her friends because they all had the Mattel type clothes, which used as little
fabric as they could get by with and still cover the skinny
butt/big tits.

One year she wanted a "Chatty Cathy" doll. Instead I went
to a real doll shop and bought her a Mme Alexander baby doll, called "Pussy Cat". I couldn't resist her, as
when I held her to my shoulder it was like holding a real
baby. Cath was disappointed, but loved that doll like no
other before or since. Recently I was in an antique shop,
and saw 4 Mme Alexanders and bought all of them, new & in
the blue boxes with pink tissue! I paid $65.00 each, they
are '68,'69 '70,'72. It was a steal, because they are near
$150.00 new now. I paid $35.00 for Cath's in '68, and $135.00 for one for my granddaughter (which she refused &
so now Cath has 2) BTW in case anyone else collects dolls,
my girls are "Pussy Cat", "Mommies Darlin'", "Puddin'" and
"Victoria".

Enough confessions of my doll hobby! I also collect sterling silver demitasse spoons. Have over 100 from all
over the world. So now you know how mundane I am!
