Subject: Detroit Shoplifting Deaths

God says, "Thou shalt not steal." Well, my friends, the Holy Spirit is in these last days enforcing this commandment with a vengeance in Detroit. Surely, this all is a sign of Jesus' soon coming as reported by ABC News, where more non-Christian Americans go to get their gnus; Christians of course go to FAUXNEWS to get their gnus.

D E T R O I T, April 6 — For the third time in less than a year, a suspected shoplifter has died during a scuffle with a security guard in the Detroit area.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Not Considered a Homicide Yet

A woman died today at a Detroit Rite Aid after a female guard tried to subdue her when she tried to leave the store. Police spokeswoman Alecia Thomas told The Associated Press the woman, whose name has not been released, was initially detained by guards inside the store when she tried to steal $200 in merchandise. Then, police said, the woman broke away from security, leading to the struggle.
"The security guard approached her, handcuffed her, then she broke away from the handcuffs and a struggle ensued," said Thomas.

Witnesses told ABCNEWS Detroit affiliate WXYZ the woman was trying to escape into a white minivan when she was stopped by a Rite Aid security guard and the store manager. The woman, witnesses said, kicked and punched at guards as they brought her back into the store.

Then the woman managed to slip out of her handcuffs, and, WXYZ reports, jump onto the back of a female guard. Other guards joined the fray and tried to subdue her and the woman was rendered unconscious during the struggle.

Not Considered a Homicide Yet

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Police say they are questioning the guard involved in the struggle as well as other witnesses and are urging others with information to come forward. For now, police said they are not treating the death as a homicide.

"Right now, it is an investigation of an unfortunate incident where somebody expired," said Lt. William Rice. "As far as the reason why, it could be a natural death. So there's nobody under arrest at this time."

In February, suspected shoplifter Travis Shelton died during a struggle with security guards at a Royal Oak Township grocery store after the officers said they saw him stealing meat. Prosecutors decided not to file charges in that case.

Last year, Frederick Finley died outside a Lord & Taylor store in Dearborn when security guards suspected his girlfriend's 11-year-old daughter of shoplifting. Prosecutors say the guard, Dennis Richardson, used a headlock to subdue Finley. Richardson is charged with involuntary manslaughter and is awaiting trial. Finley's family has filed a civil lawsuit against Lord &Taylor's parent company, The May Department Stores Company.
