A corporate marketing job would be major life experience. As I have recommened to others, if you really want to get into a position like that you need some coaching. If your folks would lay down $1,000 to do a Tony Robbins seminar, or $450 for The Landmark Forum, that would be desirable.
You're smart enough not to get too caught up in the cult aspects of either movement, and both seminars offer major insight into life and goals that you cannot get in college. The horsepower I gained from est (now called The Forum) offered me a huge advantage going into corporate sales. My first few years in sales were like riding a rocketship. They were scary and exciting. The exposure I gained to the corporate world -- both the hard work and the glamour -- was invaluable to my writing. I worked during the day and wrote at night, a pattern that continues to this day.

Stay away from Scientology. Avoid it like the plague. They do not have your best interests in mind.
