This sends a message to millions of economic refugees that entering the US is acceptable as long as you can hide out long enough to be legalized. And what of the Constitutionality? Are we only going to allow in Mexicans and not Cambodians?

In the last several years Canada has intercepted many boatloads of illegal immigrants being smuggled into Canada enroute to the U.S. They are almost all from China. Who knows what percentage were actually caught?

They were attempting to take advantage of the less-supervised northern border of the U.S. The consequences of which are that it is now much more difficult to enter the U.S. for Canadians with a lawful purpose for doing so. The line-up at some vehicle crossing points at times is over a mile or more.
