7. Adrift part 1 (Season 6 , Episode # 134, Production # 134)

Original air date: May 22, 2001
Written by: Stephen Zito & Dana Coen
Directed by: Scott Brazil

Voter's Comments:

The episode is artistically excellent. The pacing is terrific, starting with the small tiff between Harm and Mac in the office, and ending with nail-biting tension in the middle of a crashing storm. The mundane preparations for the wedding, with Mic and Bud picking up the rings and Mac and Harriet at the wedding dress fitting, juxtapose with Harm's having to prove himself to the CAG that he was not a Washington weinie and could handle his qualls. Then there is the sublime Come Fly with Me scene, that flashes from the church rehearsals to Harm completing trap after trap in the evening sky. The vision of Harm's happy face as he makes each landing, is made poignant with the knowledge that his heart is breaking because the woman he loves is preparing to marry another man.

I love all if it - the Harm and Mac dynamic (love seeing Mac so visibly upset at loosing Harm). Mic and Renee's sudden comprehension that the writing was on the wall - they had both lost. Watching the Admiral, Gunny, Tiner, Bud, Harriett and all the other JAG people hanging on through the night waiting for word of Harm's rescue - sigh!
