I'd forgotten the look on Mac's face when Harm wripped the book in two - and the cute comment about how he could help her get dressed... I wish I could have seen what season 8 would have been like if the arc had gone the way DPB originally planned it.. sigh (NT) -- Chris k, 20:11:21 07/01/05 Fri

Me too Chris K. I often wonder what would have happened if CB hadn’t been pregnant or they would have realized it could be written around and also not have them trying to make NCIS. Which is where I really think they took a turn for the worst. (NT) -- Hope, 20:54:56 07/01/05 Fri

That makes three of us. The original story arc for season 8 was to have Harm and Mac spending more time together until at the end of the season they realized what everyone else at JAG knew, that they were a couple(from a TV Guide interview with DPB). CB's pregnancy threw that out the window. But from the direction they took Harm and Mac in season 7 and the start they got in 8, before they knew CB was pregnant, I think DPB did intend to move them closer together. (NT) -- MAL, 22:20:03 07/01/05 Fri

That's a cop out IMHO....they could've still moved them closer, CB's pregnancy didn't have to impact that at all. When she was showing, you could've had them having a quiet dinner at Mac's place, or something like that. I think DB used it as his latest scapegoat, just like he did 9/11, it was his way "see I was going to do this, but this happened" It's very easy to promise things knowing you have a scapegoat & won't have to deliver. Personally I think the focus on NCIS is the real culprit, they were trying to get that off the ground & JAG suffered. (NT) -- Jennifer, 15:06:18 07/03/05 Sun

Do we really know for sure that TPTB were going to have Harm and Mac get involved in Season 8? From what I remember, without checking the archived messages at the yahoo list, that was only put out after her pregnancy was announced and they changed the direction of the show. It could have been as much spin as "DJE didn't want to come back" was. (NT) -- Ann, 22:13:20 07/01/05 Fri

I think based on the trend of the early episodes it seemed to be the direction they were going...the shared noodles, the finishing each other's sentences, straightening each other's shoulder boards and indulgent looks even when they were on opposite sides of a case. (NT) -- manette, 01:11:02 07/02/05 Sat

I always thought it was amazing how much the little boy who plays little AJ looks like Bud (chubby cheeks) and Harriet (blond, bright smile). Very good casting. (NT) -- Ni-Cad, 00:42:27 07/02/05 Sat

I never really notice but he does resemble them both. They did do a good job in casting him. (NT) -- Hope, 01:44:48 07/03/05 Sun

1.) I give it a 5. It was so moving and really showed how close a family everyone was. And of course love all the Harm and Mac interaction. 2.) I think both Harm and Mac showed an amazing range of emotions along with Harriet. Could feel their pain, happiness and everything in between. 3.) That is hard to say. I could see him shutting down emotionally and trying to deal with it himself not letting anyone in. Ok I like this writer, he also wrote Tribunal. To bad he couldn’t have written the rest of S8-10. (NT) -- Hope, 19:52:10 07/01/05 Fri

Which writer was it anyway? (NT) -- Chris K - who thought it was a classic JAG ep- not just Harm and Mac but meaty Harm and Mac, 20:08:36 07/01/05 Fri

Charles Holland. He also wrote ‘The Killer’ and ‘Enemy Below’. (NT) -- Hope, 20:16:01 07/01/05 Fri

I didn't get the chance to rewatch it but I remember when I first saw it I thought wow - what a great episode. I loved so much about it. Definitely give it a five. I loved the look on the admiral's face when he said, tell me it isn't BUd. The look on Tiners face when the admiral said 'get me Lt. Sims' - Coates when she yelled at the chopper pilot and later at the guy trying to stop her from going with Bud. I loved the banter about superman and Alec Baldwin. how could season 10 have said Harm and Sturgis were always at each others throats? (NT) -- Chris K - I could go on and on - so many wonderful scenes - shipper and JAG in general, 20:07:23 07/01/05 Fri

I would rate this episode a 5. It gives insight to the closeness that all 4 have. Bud's lifeline (if you will)is AJ his son. He wanted to live to see his child grow-up, and his vision of AJ saying "I love you daddy" got his heart going again. Also Harm, Mac, and Jen giving him strength by staying vigil outside the OR on the carrier.
#2--Harms crying shows that he LOVED Bud like a little brother, and then could not help but think that it could have been him. #3 - Harm would have been the rock that Harriet and AJ needed to get through everything if Bud had died. Making sure that AJ had a father figure in his life, so that AJ would have somebody like Harm to talk to if ever he needed anything, especially guys things (such as girls).(NT)---- Deborh Brady, 20:12:40 07/01/05 Fri

I'd give it a 5 but Jeez, kinda hate starting my weekend crying. (Or am I the only one who cries watching this one?) ITA with Chris K...Chuck C (Tiner) best acting moment outside of EOUA is the moment SJ says "Get Lt. Simms". I have a thought about Sturgis...when he tells H&M their fight to stay behind and who "gets" to be disobeying orders is "insanity", could that be the beginning of the deterioration of the relationship between the 3 of them? I mean he's so "by the book" and they were both obviously ready to suffer grave consequences to (1) be with Bud and (2) protect each other's careers. did he lose respect for H&M then? I also thought Kari Turner (Harriett) did a great job in this ep. So often Harriett just gets to show the "sweet, nice Lt." side when she really has backbone (think how well she handled all of Bud's rehab). The "I'm dressing; I can help with that too" line...sure wish that could have played out over the next 50 eps! Everyone have a great long holiday weekend.(NT)-- clr, 20:37:59 07/01/05 Fri

I give it 2 out of 5 because Im not fond of the MIA Bud leg arc, some fans say Paraguay started the dark ages when they forgot all about Bud's drama and NCIS. Imagine the sorrow of Bud fans. How would we feel if Harm lost his leg or Mac lost her leg.Jag is really an exempted show where their hero-show star are spared from sufferings like losing a leg, endo,PTSD etc...the only thing that's beautiful was the H&M relationship and the last glimpse of the Jag family. (NT) -- NevadaGH, 21:47:11 07/01/05 Fri

I give this one a 5. The scene where we thought Bud died ripped me out of my seat. Of course the interaction with the duo. The book ripping scene was priceless. The kidding scene with Mac in her underwear....yep, give this one a 5. (NT) -- Samgiz, love the screen caps Hope. Thx!, 22:08:11 07/01/05 Fri

I give it a 5, and it's Harm's reaction that touched me the most. He wasn't giving up on Bud and he wouldn't let anyone else give up either. But when it was all over and he let the tears fall you knew just how scared he was that Bud wouldn't make it. (NT) -- MAL..this one always makes me cry., 22:24:37 07/01/05 Fri

I give Harm and Mac a 5. The rest I dont care because I admit the Roberts family annoy me and they hog all the romance and happiness from our Harm and Mac. I give another 10 for Victoria Secrets Mac. I always thought I get to see sexy Mac on the series finale but I was wrong.I was gypped by DB. So long for now. (NT) -- Roger, 22:24:48 07/01/05 Fri

I give it a definite 5. I think that this is one of the best ones they made - all actors deserve credit for the emotions they bring to the screen, but especially AJ and Tiner. The scene with "Get me Lt. Sims" is where I always lose it. (NT) -- Barbara (coming out of lurker status), 22:28:52 07/01/05 Fri

I love this ep. for me it's a 5 ep. In it we watch Harm/Mac relationship grow up and is wonderful because they share their friendship, happyness, pain, hope and at the end they only want to be in each others arms. The emotion run scene by scene, fulling the scream and hit strong in the watchers hearts (NT) -- Gra, 22:29:16 07/01/05 Fri

I forgot something, the scene between the Admiral and Tiner before tell Harriet was priceless, the best scene only with wispered word only good acting (NT) -- Gra, 22:38:15 07/01/05 Fri

4.5 I love how close everyone was in this ep. It really showcased the JAG "family". I loved how close H & M were in this ep. The scenes with AJ & Tiner and then AJ & Harriet just broke my heart. And then the tears returned with that touching scene at the end. I had high hopes for season 8 after that last scene. (NT) -- JAG Junkie--When I first saw this, I remember being SOOOO distraught during the commercial break between when Bud "died" then came back to life., 22:42:20 07/01/05 Fri

I give a 5 also although the only scene that I didn't like was the s cene with little AJ calling his Dad and then having Bud respond after being declared dead. Kinda weird to me. Maybe we should cll Bud the Lazarus Man! I just think the whole medical scenes were somewhat unbelievable. I know I am too critical of medical shows because of mynursing background, but the show was so well done, that I jsut felt that that one scene distracted from everything else. (NT) -- Martian Barb...I just remembered something else that contradicts what I just wrote!, 22:45:42 07/01/05 Fri

Just as I fnished typing that message I remembered a case about 12 years ago at the hospital I worked at where we had a stat C/Section. I scrubbed in and the baby came out and was not breathing...no heart rate. Well, the docs worked on this baby for over 45 minutes and had just decided to call the time of death when we all heard a cry from the baby. See, I really did love the episode for the compassion and feelings shown by Harm and Mac (NT) -- Martian Barb I am finished rambling and going off to lurk again just for a while!, 22:48:47 07/01/05 Fri

It's a 5 for me. I really loved this one. It has everything. Harm and Mac shipper stuff. The JAG family pulling together, thousands of miles apart. 2) I have to say Harm is still the one whose range of emotions touched the deepest for me. His strength at times and vulnerablility at others just took me every where he went.. 3) If Bud had died I think Harm would have stepped up for Harriet and little AJ. I think that is the one lasting relationship we were allowed to see on screen. Bud and Harriet were like family to Harm. (NT) -- mkim, 22:46:38 07/01/05 Fri

I give this one a 5. I love the teasing at the beginning-- I can help with that, too. And tearing the books in two...lol. I loved the way Harm held it all together until after they found out Bud was going to be ok...reminded me of my DH when the kids were little and got hurt. Harm and Mac really seemed in tune with each other- and Bud had been such a part of them from the start. I loved seeing the emotion played out in the facial expressions. (NT) -- manette-- thanks for doing this, Araninda and thanks for the great screen caps, Hope!!, 23:57:54 07/01/05 Fri

I loved that, Harm was the rock for everyone until Bud was safe, then he cracked from the strain. If it had been anyone else there other than Mac I don't think he would have let them see it either. He's Superman, yes, but all superheros have their Kryptonite. (NT) -- David, 05:51:57 07/02/05 Sat

Did you notice in the H&M scene about who takes Bud's billet that Mac asks Harm if he wants to flip a coin for it? This coin toss Harm refuses. (NT) -- Araninda, 01:06:21 07/02/05 Sat

that's right... I guess DPB wasn't nearly s original as he thought.. I remember the coin toss in tribunal.... but I'd forgotten about that one. or that almost one... (NT) -- Chris K, 08:51:54 07/02/05 Sat

They also flipped in Silent Service....I don't think it was supposed to be original but a common way that they'd made decisions in the past. (NT) -- manette, 09:06:14 07/02/05 Sat

first of all...i´m sad this is going to be my last EOTW for a long time,so don´t be mad if i get a little over the top today:i just love this one it is a FIVE i really thought hey would go for it..the teasing, the depending on each other.the interaction was just so gooooood. finally see harm leaning on to her,let her be the strong one *deeeeepsigh*.loved the admiral, little aj and the budstoryline was just too familiar to me..great ep (NT) -- davi i´m going to miss you HB´s so much..and i miss harm already, 14:39:47 07/02/05 Sat
