IMHO, they showed how gruesome war is, not the computerized version that we see on TV. A "good guy" losing a leg, now that really got you thinking about land mines, war, the unfairness, etc. As a nation, I think we have become desensitized about the effects of war. It was thought provoking, and that is a good thing. (NT) -- Maggie, 08:51:24 09/25/02 Wed

IA w/Maggie. Did anyone else catch the fact that what Bud did was senseless and futile anyway? NOT his fault, he basically had no business being there w/o someone who had a better idea of what they were doing being with him. I kept this opinion to myself for fear of being seriously flamed, but the mines had been there since the Russian's which was like 20 years plus--these people deal with that in their every day lives--poor Bud tried to do what he thought was right, and ended up paying a very high price. Think there was a message in there about the ultimate futility of war. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 09:01:23 09/25/02 Wed

ITA, CM. Also highlighting the dangers our military Folks face in times of war are not always clearly defined dangers but the environment itself. Realistic portrayal of actual conditions of what our Folks have to face - they are all at risk, no matter their specific assignment. (NT) -- Techie51, 09:07:28 09/25/02 Wed

Well-said, CatMom! (NT) -- Lucia, 09:51:28 09/25/02 Wed
