Now, I'm not at all happy with the Webb/Mac crap (excuse my language) that TPTB threw at us tonight. However, I can rationalize most of it away and still come out feeling, if not positive, at least still hopeful for the Harm/Mac ship. And hey, if the queen of shipper freak-outs (and CatMom's most frequent patient) can be hopeful...

Since I'm trying to be 100% positive, I'm not going to mention anything about the blatant shipper chain-yanking in these last 3 episodes. I'll save that for another Tolstoy-long post, in which I will also include my diatribe of why I will NEVER watch another DPB show EVER. Now, on to the positivity....

1. Webb's in love with Mac. Big deal. . . every man on JAG is in love with Mac. And?

2. The kiss and the way Mac was reacting to Webb - ok, after I threw up, I'm just not going to let it bother me that much. Mac listened to Webb's screams as he was being tortured, he basically told her he loved her, and was pretty damn close to dead there at the end. I can totally see the hand holding, the last conversation and the kiss as her trying to comfort an injured/dying man. Remember how she told Dalton she loved him in The Stalker, then admitted she lied when she said it?

3. Harm walking up during the kiss and his comment to Webb � jealous, much? This whole arc really was Harm showing some emotion over Mac finally. Yes, this whole triangle thing was total soap, but at least we got some emotion from Harm. Granted, I got very sick of Jealous!Harm during the whole Icky!Mic fiasco, but I'm so desperate for any crumb of shipper type emotion that I'll take it. Speaking of emotion....I did ADORE the entire Harm desperately searching for Mac story. So desperate that he was willing to risk his career and his life. HE LOVES HER!

I don't think Mac loves Webb. She cares for him, as a friend (which she did say in that last conversation "I've enjoyed having you for a husband and a friend"). He was horribly injured and she responded to that. It's not going anywhere. Also, Webb was not out of danger at the end of the episode. He and Gunny were stopped at that roadblock. There's nothing to say that he's going to live. I really don't think this triangle will last too long into next season. SC is too expensive for TPTB to use that much. I can see how they set this up so that if DJE didn't come back, they could have a direction for storyline. However, DJE IS coming back, SC is waaaay too expensive for TPTB (especially since they gave HAE a raise!) so I refuse to worry about this. I really do believe it's going to be ok.

I also think this sets up some good possibilities for next season. Harm and Mac have to get out of that crash � maybe Harm is injured and Mac remembers just how much she loves him while she has to comfort him (which would be a nice contrast to her interactions with the injured Webb). Or maybe while they're alone in the woods making their way back to civilization, he confronts her about Webb and she laughs it off as the situational response it was. Also, don't forget, at the beginning of the episode, the Admiral said something to Harm to the effect of "what are you going to do to keep her once you get her back". That was NOT a throw-away line, or a throw-away exchange!

Well, my shows have really thrown me for a loop with the finales this year. I'll share my new mantra....

Vaughn is NOT married....Spike is NOT dead....Harm and Mac WILL be together!
