In reply to: Xena 's message, "Response to CB ..one was "Your Honor"; another was where he said in the break room it pained him, but admitted Mac was good as a judge, she knew/anticipated Harm's bag of tricks which usually slam-dunked a win in court for him, she leveled the playing field in the courtroom...earlier in the ep, he did offer congratulations to Mac for her TAD to the bench. His behavior at the housewarming was sophmoric. Hormones got the better of him. Kudos to Mac for her reserve. Keep the competition in the courtroom. Harm's statement to Mac about being good as a judge..an APOLOGY? Comments please" on 23:45:35 11/28/02 Thu

Well, both Harm and Mac are litigators and he uses the tricks of their trade, as does Mac. For Mac to "know his tricks and anticipate them" is not correct behavior for a judge. I also agree with Harm's voicing his concern to AJ. Harm has a career also. AJ 's management style with Mac, Bud and Sturgis has been positive reinforcement. He uses negative reinforcement on Harm and yes, on Singer also. This ep made no sense to me. The whole Mac as a judge storyline is incorrect in the law, as would it be for Harm. I just can't get past that. (NT) -- Techie51, 10:03:58 11/13/02 Wed

Techie you are correct. I have come out of silence on this one. You are right about how AJ threats Harm. It's like a love/hate relationship. He wants Harm to do well but never seems to support him. He always brings up problems from the past or dismisses anything good as a joke. When was the last time AJ had a heart to heart w/ Harm as he has with Sturgis & Mac . I'm rambling but the writing is such that Harm -in order to look human or vulnerable-is made to look foolish. I don't like it. If Mac is so strong why are we always suppose to feel sorry for her and be upset with Harm? (NT) -- Beth, 11:50:38 11/13/02 Wed

I'll go inside so as not to take up board space...... -- CM>^.,.^<, 13:06:44 11/13/02 Wed

Good points Xena and CatMom. Yes, AJ treats Bud like the family protege, and Sturgis like the solid older brother. Mac is a bit of a darling with him, and Harriet ...good grief who cares? But Harm is as close as AJ can get to a younger self. He was a seal...just about the toughest job, and he too was foolish in life and in love. So he is gruff with Harm, because he knows Harm could blow a great career by being too impulsive. Also, Harm would see through positive reinforcement and be insulted. He doesn't need the ego boost either....LOL. I mean...really! (NT) -- Cece...loves Harm...hated TPTB right now., 13:37:42 11/13/02 Wed

Good points. Also in the best of all possible judicial worlds, a judge who knows she's in love with the defense attorney should recuse herself from the case. I would think Sturgis has grounds for appeal on that fact alone (of course this is TV so her confession is conveniently forgotten!) (NT) -- Araninda, 14:33:30 11/13/02 Wed

But Mac & Harm are not involved with each other on that level. Mac proved she could be fair & impartial, & if she had sustained all of Harm's objections & made it obvious she was favoring one side then yes, Sturgis would've had a beef. All were in a tough place, & it took a while for Harm to get used to Mac presiding over the trial, which is why I think she was tolerant of his first "your kidding" line. She knew it was Harm reacting to his friend, b/c in his mind she wasn't the Judge. He later realized that Mac played fair, & admitted this fact to her. Fascinating responses....CB, how about you? This post is in response to yours below. (NT) -- Xena, 12:40:40 11/13/02 Wed

I don't know. I am even more confused. It might make sense that his apology/compliment is a little weird for him but I've seen him doing it before. He has given Mac about 2, maybe 3, compliments and has told her about 3 times that he thinks she is good in what she does. Even towards the Admiral ( e.g. People Vs Rabb. He was eager then to tell AJ he should take her back ). So, Harm has complimented her before, also apologized for things so I am still lost.... AJ being hard towards Harm. I don't know. I think indeed AJ wants Harm to do the things AJ did wrong. Maybe.... (NT) -- Still confused CB, 15:07:28 11/13/02 Wed
