In reply to: judi 's message, "Why this episode worked in general and one thing that drove me nuts" on 12:59:34 12/14/02 Sat

Now the part that drove me nuts: The bar scene! It was shot from the back. The only time we see Harm in civies and we see him from the back??? What were they thinking.

Ok, I'm done now. judi

Harm said that the DNA information was inconclusive. So they obviously did the tests, but the answers didn't say for certain that Sergei was a Rabb. I think it's one of those storylines that happened off screen and we only heard about it afterward. The question I have on this is...was it comparing Harm and Sergei's blood or was it done off the envelopes? Guess we'll never know that answer. (NT) -- KatRose, 12:44:55 10/09/02 Wed

I would think they'd have to compare Sergei to the envelopes, possibly throwing Harm's blood in there as well, but comparing siblings doesn't prove inconclusively. You have to compare the child to the parent. I was disappointed to hear the tests were inconclusive, tho. Too bad. (NT) -- Heather-O, 13:42:38 10/09/02 Wed

Remember, the envelopes were over 30 years old, and we don't know how well they were stored. The DNA could have been degraded by time, climatic condition--if they were in a basement or attic--any number of factors. It's just a way to leave an 'out' for whatever they want to do, IMHO. This has alwasy bothered me. i watch a lot of the forensic shows on Discovery, TLC, (etc.) ANd if they were comparing DNA for a crime, they would be able to determine first degree relative from both Harm's and Sergie's blood samples. If they can prove a blood splatter belongs from a victim why can't they prove paternity? (NT) -- Spud, 21:34:25 10/09/02 Wed

The answer is, they should have been able to tell with a fair certainty that Harm and Sergei were at the very least, very closely related. I think they went the way they did because if made the storyline more complex. I don't know if there is such a rule or not. Also, the JAG gang has a pet Congresswoman. There are special citizenship bills that get put through all the time as favors. It's a special private bill, and hardly ever are they voted against. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 06:27:18 10/10/02 Thu

ITA, Judi. I liked how the episode tied together, too. About the Bud/Harm scene at Bathesda--does anyone else think Harm did that just to keep Bud's head up, or did he really need an answer? Because he knew about the little boy's involvement, but I saw that and thought, "He knows who's in on it, so maybe he's just doing that so that Bud knows they're thinking about him, and he's still part of JAG. Maybe Harriet talked to him and told him that Bud was being crappy...am I insane, or does that make sense??? (NT) -- Jenn, 13:04:25 10/09/02 Wed

I wondered too, if he were just trying to make Bud feel better, but I think he overlooked it. It just didn't hit on his radar because he wasn't cluing in on the kid being involved, but the kid as more of a secondary victum, perhaps because of his own history. Like when he and Mac speak about their own history coloring their attitudes toward the case. I like how the had a mild disagreement, but that it went no where and was resolved amiably and quickly. They are growing up. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 13:55:41 10/09/02 Wed

Hey, Jenn- Makes perfect sense to me.. I said the exact same thing in chat last night! GMTA! (NT) -- Matou, 19:08:03 10/09/02 Wed

Oooo Judi.. This is a good post.. Inside for my thoughtzzzzzzzzzzz... LOL! -- Luoodles, 13:42:39 10/09/02 Wed

Lu, the thing with Sergei is just the storyline of how he got there that bothers me. I hate how Harm found him coincidentally and he turned out to be his brother with no proof. If he had befriended him in another way, I could take it a lot better. I do like the naivity of Sergei up against the witchiness of Singer though. (NT) -- judi, 13:55:20 10/09/02 Wed

I'm with the RDOL on this one. Sergei was just too pat. If it had happened some other way, maybe. (NT) -- CM>^.,.^<, 14:04:23 10/09/02 Wed

Yes.. tis true this was a bit far fetched.. and I thought the scene where he "discovers" him was sort of corny.. but.. I REALLY LIKE that Harm has a brother... and that it's Sergei. I love this story! (can you tell?) LOL! (NT) -- Luoodles getting off this board and back to work. Sigh., 14:06:31 10/09/02 Wed

I liked this storyline too, But the writers never really went anywhere with it. We really hardly ever see Sergei. Last night was the first time he's been seen since forever. I think thats why he said he's lonely. He doesn't really know anyone, except now for Singer. (NT) -- Kat, 15:51:37 10/09/02 Wed

I agree with everything. I also think Sergei may not be Harm's brother. But I think thats for the future. I think that may be where Harm's vulnerability falls into play this season. I also think the UST should be steadily reaching fever pitches. Neither H or M has been on a date in a year. Just pondering. (NT) -- Kat, 13:50:20 10/09/02 Wed

Judi today YOU are the voice of reason! LOL! I agree with you totally. (NT) -- Shell, 23:18:16 10/09/02 Wed
