Subject: Talking

The two rabbits sat there staring at each other, ignoring the battle going on around them. It seemed that each side knew that the two of them would be prime targets, so they attacked anyone that would try to reach their rah (SFL, and an example would be what NPC #1 and Lymthiltlay were doing).

The wind started to pick up. The sky darkened. Distant rumbles of thunder sounded. But neither of the two paid any heed. Each was carefully observing the other, more interested in what the other would do. After a long while, Thormantle spoke.

"I'm flattered that you still remember me Septfoil" he said with a smirk. "All of this is to get back at me, isn't it? How shallow of you. Using your owsla for nothing other than personal revenge. If I knew that this was the extent of your ambition, I may have decided to keep you around instead of calling for your execution" he said.

"You are a leader, but you lack focus" Thormantle continued. "You do not see the bigger picture. You would have made a great Captain of Owsla, after I was established as rah of course. All you'd need to do would be to follow my orders and lead the owsla to victory. You are only fit to be a subordinate. I on the other hand, do have the focus you lack. Under my direction, we could have made quite a powerful team."

"However, that was not meant to be it seems. My mistake I suppose. I would have rather of had you as an ally. But I think I like the alternative anyway. I'm going to take you back to the warren for the execution you ran away from so long ago. Make it nice an public as well, taking some of your rabbits that we deem fit to watch instead of die on this field. The fact that you are now a rah yourself only helps my position. The message that your death will send will let all know that the Eye of Inlé warren is superior!" he concluded, finished with his speech.

Septfoil was unfazed at Thormantle's words. "The past is the past; I have no regrets. All I had wanted to do was to make something of myself in your owsla. But your treachery opened my eyes to what was going on around me. You did me quite a favor in retrospect. Had you not tried to kill me, I might have ended up like you" he said flatly.

"And yes, I did bring the owsla here on the motivation of revenge" he continued coldly. "To put it simply, we are here to stop you and the spread of your corruption. We are here to stop your influence. Though I'm here for you."

"We will not lose!" he said emphatically. "So you can forget the plans you have of taking any of us prisoner. And, I should let you know that we have no intention of taking prisoners. At best, you may be able to retreat with your life, if you are that lucky. Pray now for such good fortune" he ended, getting into a battle-ready position.

Thormantle smiled, the malicious smile that his face was accustomed to. "Mindless rhetoric. There will be a special place in the warren dug out to display your head when I'm through with you" he challenged, getting himself battle-ready as well.

The tension between the two built up for a few moments. Neither of them wanted to be the first to strike. Both were fighters; both wanted to see how the other fought to be able to determine weaknesses in his defense. They were at an impasse.

As if on cue, the storm decided to end their stalemate. Thunder, much closer now, resounded loudly over the field. As tense as the two rabbits were they both jumped at the sound, colliding and grappling as they met in the air and decended to the ground. It was time to back up the claims they made. Their battle had begun.
