Date Posted: 18:03:15 06/17/02 Mon  Melanie walked down the ailse and found Jenny. Jenny was grooming a glossy black mare in crossties. "Hey, Mel, I was just about to go get you," she said with a smile. "Guess what." "What?" Melanie reached up and stroked the 15h mare on the neck. "I need you to work Goddess for me." Melanie's eyes widened. "Work Goddess? You would LET me?" She was so excited! "OMG I'd love to mom!" "Great. Brandon will give you a lesson. I need you to take her over some jumps. I've been watching you & Princess lately & I think you deserve this." Jenny gave the sleek mare a pat and handed her daughter a brush. "Finish grooming her & tack up." Jenny strode off. Mel quickly brushed the mare, picked her hooves and saddled her. The 12 y/o eagerly pulled on her helmet and swung into the huntseat saddle. "Hey dad!" Mel called. "I'm ready!" She touched her heels and the Arabian broke into a quick trot. "Whoa!" Melanie brought her under control... She warmed her up, struggling to keep the spirited filly behaving. The Arab danced and tossed her head, chewing the bit and bouncing along. Finally Mel got a controlled walk, then trot. After riding on the flat for almost 20 minutes, she decided they were ready. Brandon set up an easy course and they went through it. Goddess loved to jump. She would tuck her slender legs beneath her and spring over the jump willingly. Melanie nearly flew out of the saddle as Goddesss lunged and extra 2 feet above the jump!
