Date Posted: 18:07:44 06/17/02 Mon  This is a picture of Spain(it may be changed sometime) Suzie sat onthe sofa flipping channels on the TV.She was sulky and unhappy.Jess had gone with her best freind Alli to ride at her uncles barn for three days."Honey"said Helen from the kitchen"do you want to go for a ride".Suzie jumped up"yeah"she said happily."OK Your dad will take you"said Helen"and then I'll come and teach you a lesson"OK"Suzie said and ran to get on some breeches."come on"She herd her dad's(Eric)calling fromthe car.she ran down stairs and out the door,Her dad drove her KDS and droped her off.She walked into the barn. Suzie grabed a lead rope and ran out to the paddock where Helen's Andalusian geldong Spain was grazing contintidly.She was very happy her mom(Helen)had said the could ride him.She climbed up the gait and jumped down on the other side.She walked over to him and clipped the lead shank onto his red halter.he followed her willingly out of the paddock and into the barn.She was going to ride english again.She loved english,but still had a passion for saddleseat and liked it better then english.Still,she would have to ride english until her Mom found a gaited horses for her.She groomed Spain's silky gray coat and posittioned the saddle pad on his back.Then she lifted the saddle onto his back and buckled on the girth.She strapped on her helmet and slipped the bridle onto the gelding's elegant head.She grabbed a whip and led Spain out to the mounting block.She swung into the saddle and nudged him to walk forward.She adjusted to the english style of saddle then began to warmup following the instructions that Helen had given her at her last lesson. Suzie herd a crunch of gravel as Helen's jeep came down KDS's drive way.She turned around to see her mother getting out of the car."Hey Mom"Suzie called out."you ready for a lesson"Helen called back"you bet"Suzie replied.Helen got a bottle of water out of the car and sat on the mounting block,watching her duaghter.she ran her through an intro level dressage test."Suzie that was incredible"said Helen exstaticly"I think its time to try canter and your posting is much better then last time"."Oh goody"said Suzie smiling."OK,take a circle and pick up a trot".Suzie did what she was told and picked up a steady trot on a right direction circle."OK now sit your trot,slide your outside leg back and squeeze hard"said helen from the center of the circle.Suzie settled into sitting trot and slid her leg back.Then kicked hard.Spain picked up left lead canter."wrong lead"said Helen"bring hiom back to a trot and try again and keep him bent more this time".Suzie sat deep in the saddle and asked again.This time he picked up the correct lead.Suzie sat deep her hips folowing with his smooth and flowing canter."Excellent"said Helen"now go into 2 point and canter around the ring once".Suzie reached far up Spain's neck and went into 2 point.She felt uncompfertable in this strange position.She went around the arena once and brought downto a trot and then to a walk."That was really good"Helen said happily"you can take him on a hack to cool him off"."OK,thanx Mom"said Suzie.She rode Spain out of the arena and began to ride down to shady trail.Suzie let him have a long rein and droped her feet out of her stirrups.she rode him for a quarter of a mile then turned around and rode back to the barn. She dismounted and led him back into the barn.she untacked him and gave him a bath.She put a cooler on him.Since it was almost time for the horses to come in so she put him in his stall.Then she cleaned her tack and put it away."Hey Suzie its time to go"she herd her mother calling from the Jeep."coming"Suzie called back.She ran out to the car and hopped in.Then they drove home.
