pal/Ntsc

2 different and incompatable Video recording/playback formats

pal is mainly used in europe britain and australia..

ntsc is used in north america and asia (mainly)

a tape made on a pal vcr wont play on an ntsc machine

it needs to be converted (at steep cost) to ntsc b4 it can be viewed...

but the past few years the clever makers of vcrs in europe and UK have been making VCR's that will play BOTH formats (dunno about record)...
but only the newer vcr's are capable of this..

hence:
the lucky seems (whose mum assured her their VCR could play both formats)was able to view the first 2 series worth of worst witch that this Canadian lad recorded on his north american ntsc VCR...and mailed to her for her bday...

however if someone in UK made tapes for me in Pal format,id have to get them converted to ntsc before i could watch them

we dont have VCR's that play both types and from what people in the electronics trade have told me we never will

typical north american arrogence eh?

=)

so u see Sphynx///if your vcr plays both formats...u can get ww tapes from anyone anywhere..

=)

if u dont know ...u could try e mailing the manufacturer with the model number and they could tell u...

if its more than 5 years old it likely doesnt...

over.....
No wool...
