Subject: Something to think on

When I was looking into creating my own RP with my husband we had it to where there was a sort of large racial war.. The humanoids vs. the bipebals, vs the fantasy (ogres, dwarves, etc.) We had it set up to where we had NPC's for the first few 'levels' and then after that if you wished to continue on with the game you were 'forced' to interact with your race.. Creating guilds, families, etc.etc. And of course not everyone in the same race got along but hopefully you see what I'm getting at.Another idea that we were throwing around was owning your own land.. You would go through the first few 'levels' gaining experience, money, basic supplies, etc. and pretty much settling into your character. After you'd hit a certain time you would have to spend your money on your own plot of land in someone's kingdom. With time, exp, knowledge, politics, and or whatever you would slowly make it up the ranks and adventually have your own 'kingdom', and the kingdoms would be at war and the players would have to work together to stay alive and thrive.
The biggest thing you need to keep in mind Torus is that you need some sort of conflict... Whether it's the weather.. the land, nature, or war otherwise any roleplaying game will go stagnant..Something else to think about is change.. I don't know about everyone else but I get tired of playing these games where I get to level 50 and it's the same thing as level 1.. Boring...
And finally a question.. How are you planning on keeping the game freeform? And what is going to be your definition of freeform?
As sad as it may be, and as much as I know we cringe at the thought.. We will need stats.. But maybe instead of the normal, strength, dex, wisdom, vitality, et, we can have a large data base and add in hundreds of different stats like the traditional pencil and paper RPG's have. And the individual player picks where they want to put their 'points.' Ok, now you've done it.. You got the wheels in my brain turning.. But then again I'm sure that's what you were planning when you sent me the URL.. Anyhow expect to see more of my ideas as they come. For now that looks to be about it.
