Macedonia: The latest border incident - terrorist act
Skopje, - The latest incident reported at Macedonian border with Yugoslav province of Kosovo is claimed to be a terrorist act. This is another attack against Macedonian border guards, the Spokesman for Macedonian Defence Ministry Gjorgji Trendafilov said today.
This is seventh consecutive incident reported at Macedonian northern border within last five days. Macedonian defence authorities see this incident as a terrorist act against the members of Macedonian Army, Trendafilov told the reporters.

He added that the incident took place Sunday afternoon near the village of Tanusevci, some 500 meters from the border line, Macedonian territory. The four-man reconnaissance team was conducting a routine vehicle patrol in rugged terrain near the village of Tanisevci. They run into a fieldmine.
Macedonian side contacted KFOR after the incident. KFOR Spokesman Tony Stables has already met Macedonian Defence Minister Ljuben Paunovski and other top military officials.
Military sources confirmed that they made clear to KFOR representative that Macedonia will no longer tolerate the attacks against the border guards. Macedonian military officials are likely to take more radical measures.
The same sources said that the government will address this matter during tomorrow’s meeting. The possibility to close the border with Yugoslav province of Kosovo is not excluded as a measure to upgrade Macedonia’s security.
