Re: sorry, l want to ask a question! -- smallmice, 14:36:24 04/15/03 Tue
oh~~thx
thank you
如方便可以用icq或e-mail聯絡嗎?

When you trace the development of a specific musical type, it is likely that controvesies will appear. I personally believe blues is what's happening in a earlier period before jazz form its own identity. One key point is the nature of the music as itself own. Like classical music, people believe it is for a more upper class people. Blues started as unacclaimed black music. What more people referring is Chicago blues in their mind. Go and find that out. Guitar with harmonica. That's true. Full of "root" sense so-called. In fact other subtype may appear in your mind if you think of them.......country blues...even may included R&B for some classification.
Let's discuss the matter later. I need to go now for the time being.

Chicago Blues refer to the style of the music not just the place where many such musician settled. It's indicated by the soul and instinct emotional expression in terms of notes and bending of sound, being described as "blusy" nowadays. Basically it is still the most commonly quited blues style as representative. Check that out: Muddy water, John Lee Hooker,Sonnyboy Williamson.... those most famous and praised persons.
By the way, I think the Blues CDs are not expensive not all...some only cost $10-20. I'd suggest everyone who is interested to go and find one or two of those bootleg one for simply serve the purpose of appreciation of various musical style.

It's a common error for us to compare two individual on different ground. In fact it's easy for discussion, yet not straight to the point. I believe in union and crossover for all kinds of music. It's just what's happening.
One very interesting point: A thing is important and meaningful only for those silly one who care! I totally agree. That's one reason and the single most important one for busy people as me(and many others) to try to "popularize" Jazz as its original artisic taste
Many CDs are much much cheap than ever before in HK. If you have a glance on some items in HMV (even this big boss!), they are similar in price to second hand items. You won't believe those days when I need to pay >$100 for cds that cost $60 something today.
Of course, it's time to testify your judgment and see if you can get the worthwhile one! Again the key point is to ask yourself: what's the purpose of this purchase? For collections? For exploration? ....
Go for it then.
