Gennifer,
Welcome to the board. Can't help much, I got my first Rott in 1979, great dog...had four when my children came along...had to get rid of them, they could not make the adjustment to family/kid safe, but they were very hard and this should not indicate anything about the breed, just those dogs. My friends kept the Rott around for several years after I let mine go, and two of my best pals made the switch from Rott to Boerboel some ten years ago...they seem satisfied. Ask for Clay...he had some NICE Rottie girls...he will pop in here from time to time.

I always had a fondness for the Rott, a good one is a great dog...I would have to say this, a GOOD Boerboel is stronger, faster, has more wind and fight, is only a little better around introduced guests and is of course, bigger...A good Rott is probably easier to find, comes with a much longer working pedigree, and your search will put you in touch with more long-term dog professionals than you will encounter in Boerboels.

Good luck,
DKH
