For what its worth....

I have experience with them. They are in as far as the breed as a whole about the same shape as the boerboel. There are two different camps the presa canario and the dogo canario. Finding a working dog amongst either is difficult.

Red Star has some nice dogs. BUT! Mark and Irina are getting away from them and have really curbed their efforts to push them as sport dogs. When you look at their accomplishments with them you have to consider they have many years experience with them and more importantly with bite sport training and trialing. Because they can work a dog and title him doesn't translate into a person with lessor experience being able to do that.

They are not unlike most all big working dogs. When you get one who has the proper drive and temperament he 9 times out of 10 is way to much dog for the hobbyist and or inexperienced owner/handler.

If your wanting a working dog I suggest Todd Blas in Canada. His dogs are tested and his breeding program is put together to produce hard core working dogs going back to some older family line dogs. If you want his contact info you can send me an email. If your not prepared to deal with big, powerful, dominate dogs I suggest you stay away from the working line dogs.

Hope this helps!
