Hi Jenny,

I have lots of friends that participate in dog-sports, from hunting to protection, and you are right, some titles do not prepare or suitably test for real life.

K-9 pro-sports, Streetring, Frenchring, Schutzhund, all have there place and their following...but I always keep in mind the indoor Bird-dog events I have seen that prove that a dog can point a bird...but it hardly prepares or proves the dog in the field. The more realistic the test situation, the better...in your case, find a trainer...I mean a real trainer.

I have an amazing McCallum cow-dog I depend on for most every stock handling situation, impeccably bred, wonderful skills in real life...no titles, won't be getting any either. Does it diminish his value to someone needing cows caught? The best test is real work.

David
