Now to questions and my answers and I'm sorry about my delay in answering them. Do I think Gordo has the rock solid nerve and the necessary tools to be a full-fledged protection dog, capable of stopping an assailant in real life situations? Gordo is too trusting IMO to be a protection dog. Could I through training change his behavior triggers to make him less trusting? Maybe, but here after some training is a video (sorry to use the nasty word) that shows a certain inclination towards that end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy-RwdUEiq4&feature=channel_page . Second question, do I think Gordo’s temperament would make it here on my place? Again probably not but I would hazard a guess that the large majority of Boerboels couldn’t either, save the ones that are owned by those reading this post (g). But IMO the bitch Gordo bred to could have and a good percentage of the pup had a very good chance to make it at your place, and that is the point. The pups, not all, seem to be more balanced than both their parents. The bitch was a very sharp and if bred to a like animal the results would not have been pretty. With apologizes in advance (g) here is a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MJF4faBgq0 of Gordo on a farm showing catch* instinct*. He had no clue how to catch but it didn’t stop him from trying and he figured it out at the end. It’s a good thing I used a pink pig because if he caught a feral boar by the leg he wouldn’t have left the pen alive. So I don’t think he would have been useless and if you remember when he was at your place he wasn’t afraid of cattle just not schooled enough not to get kicked or stomped.

For the record it is my belief that you are one of the best breeders we have today and one of the reasons is how hard you work to identify your breed stock and that was why I even considered training one of your pups and why I am not offended by your questions and only hope you not offended by my answers. Norman
