I think if Sharon had harboured any doubts about the dogs reactions she wouldn't have put them into the situation, but given their previous confidence in every situation they have encountered including rock concerts, thunder storms and motor racing, I think she felt that she was onto a sure thing with gunfire. That said, I agree that if you have any doubts at all about how your dog will react to any situation, you should employ caution.
