All the hulabaloo started when a few estranged devotees of Sri Chinmoy FINALLY saw the real light. You see, these people spent years (many 20 or more) under the delusion that Sri Chinmoy was at best the incarnation of God, or, at worst a highly advanced spiritual master, worthy of their complete obeisance.

They spent all that time repressing feelings, and ideas - big things like sex (forbidden to members)and rational and well founded doubts (Sri Chinmoy can't be questioned or criticized). They did this because the "master" taught them that these things were harmful to the spritual life. He also told them that leaving him or turning against him was like comitting spiritual suicide. Strange as it sounds, we actually believed that stuff.

Well, it turned out that Sri Chinmoy was using his disciples for sex. 3 women came forward on the internet with detailed accounts (see yahoogroups.com/sri_chinmoy_information)

Over time a whole pile of shocking accounts came out about Sri Chinmoy's abuses of his authority and mind trips played on his devotees. It seems we didn't know him as well as we thought. But then, we never had much personal contact with him. Kind of like in the Wizard of OZ, we couldn't see behind the curtain and we forgot that all we needed to get home was right there inside of us.

Now more and more people are finding out what kind of man Sri Chinmoy really is. Good to know about this stuff, isn't it?
