Subject: Flat roof with railing

I want to put a wood railing around flat part of roof over garage. Only for looks, not to use. Can we nail into roofing on the edges for the 2x4's? Or will we get leaks?
Please help!

You don't want to nail into the roof without knowing what you are doing. Does your flat roof have a parapet wall. Your best idea would be to build on that.
