Author: Haddock Pastie [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 15:52:20 02/06/03 Thu Thought I'd start a new thread for the topic Never' raised regarding maybe moving on from DoD to something new. Me and Salmon were talking about this the other week. Not to take anything away from HalfLife or DoD or any of the other mods, but its a bit of a joke how we are playing mods for a game that is about 4 or 5 years old, and based on an engine even older than that. It says a lot about the games developers and publishers (lazy unimaginative gits) that we spent most of our gaming time playing mods developed for free by the likes of the DoD team. Anyway, myself and Salmon both need new PC's, but due to the fact that the company we work for are as tight as a nuns foof, we can't really upgrade ATM. We are sorted for broadband but can't really run the new games. Salmon has started playing a bit of MOHAA which he rates quite highly, and it looks a lot better than DoD in terms of graphics. I think the next logical step would be Battlefield 1942 - although MOHAA is a lot better looking than DoD, it doesn't really add an awful lot more. With BF1942 you get all the planes, tanks, ships etc. which will take it on to another level. I don't know how you are all sorted on the broadband/fast PC front, but I'd hope that eventually we could maybe move the clan to BF1942 over the next few months?? I can't think of any alternatives at the minute, not until Planetside is released. Personally I feel DoD has served me well since 1.3 and is very polished in its current state, and I thank the DoD team for their work, but I can't really see where it can go now. That said I do like the fact that on 1942 you do get to fly and drive and fire big guns..... although I have not played lately due to the fact that I am behind with the updates. But I am happy with what every the clan agrees on though I do think it would be good if we tried to have a season in a league on DOD.... if we can find anywhere. 8Ball [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I have MOHAA, played it, its not bad but not amazing, BF1942 never tried it so cant comment. Other games I have that maybe worthwhile, SOF2, UT2003, or Vietcong I have played the demo and seems to be good (altho limited servers),...also theres Project IGI 2 which is multiplayer which would be good. I will still continue to play DoD regardless (when not in clan mode), and will try and follow what the clan do in relation to type of game. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

Only my PC has a Geforce 2 MX 400 , and that doesn't go good with BF 1945. I hopefully get Geforce FX. MOHAA is fun and runs good, but not on-line. Ping always higer than 600. I recommend BF 1945. It's much more fun, 64 player servers. REAL large maps. Tanks, jeeps, ships, etc. But DoD will be most fun. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

Anyway, it /is/ completely unplaybale on /my/ 56k, and everyone I know also says the same thing.
