I would considere the years between 2001 and 2010 to be the "hay day" of the Miss America System in Maryland. It was nothing for the miss and teen programs to have over 15 for one title. This is not intended to hurt the feelings of any current contestant but if you were just average you didn't win a local. Now it seems like even those girls eventually win a title each year. My daughter competed over three years before winning her first local. -- Miss Maryland Talk Board
