Subject: I have seen the talent it doesn't even get a 3 from me. I have no idea how she won. The only thing I can think of is Hannah sold Sherry on it and Sherry told the judges what she wanted. Another pretty face.

RACHEL would've been an incredible Miss Maryland. I would've loved to have seen her represent our state at MAO.

Ok, here it goes. Any of the other top 10 and even some girls left off of top 10 would have represented MD much better than what I saw at OSQ last night at prelims. Tonight in SS and Gown should be much better, but her cringe-worthy talent on friday will be embarrassing for her and for our state. The reason she can't talk coherently about her platform, is because she has not done anything with it beyond her write up, and Hannah probably wrote it for her.

1. Morgan is beautiful and very talented. She has an amazing SS body (she beat Katie--same group-- in prelims even if that's only 15%) and is gorgeous and sophisticated in Gown. She is intelligent, poised, and well spoken. She is not tall but look at Susan Powell. Anyway, she would not have embarrassed MD, she would have done her Miss MD job gladly and not disappeared to "prepare" for Miss America since winning. She is well educated, she would have actually used her scholarship!! Proven academic record for a scholarship program...hmm.
2. Shea is beautiful, talented and well spoken. She is smart and sticks to her convictions. Her answers are strong and she doesn't sugar coat things. She won overall interview...which counts for more than SS. Her OSQs were really good, at least she knew what she was saying. Her gown walk was also beautiful. She, unfortunately, has made some bad choices posting on social media and people were ready to call her out for it. I'm sure there are lots of screen shots that people were ready to share. She sabotaged herself in that, MD probably could not choose her because of that. Very likely would also have actually used her scholarship.
3. Emma was new to Miss MD and pageants in general. She is well educated and has quite a resume. She is not a pageant patty, she would have been a breath of fresh air for MD, Sherry could have really highlighted her active duty status for national attention, that stuff can go a long way at these things. Her record is clean, her talent strong and her gown beautiful. She is also not tall, but looked great on stage. Her overall scores were obviously strong and consistent to put her in 3rd place. She won all the awards that don't really count but speak to her character and credentials. Why Sherry would think she would not have been a good Miss MD is beyond me, unless she expected her to quit the Coast Guard to do it full time. She would have not embarrassed MD. Scholarship: she would have used it.
4. Rachel is very talented, fit, beautiful. She looks like Miss America. Her gown choice and style choices throughout the week were right on point. But she is more than pretty. She won prelim talent or was it tied for overall talent? I forget. She tied in prelim SS also I think. She has substance, she is smart, her OSQs were well answered, she's consistently excellent. She knows what her platform is and can speak about it without saying "and" 20 times in 90 seconds...She would have made a Miss Maryland that people would have booked for appearances and events...unlike the current one. This one would have also used the scholarship.
If Sherry had that much influence and "changed her mind" then she should have seen the card and changed it. It makes NO SENSE why MD has wasted this year and sent Kathleen Masek to Atlantic City, none whatsoever.
None of these girls got the chance to go. All because someone decided Kathleen was "better" from the start. Very sad. At least 2 have aged out and can't come back to try again. The rest may come back...but why would they. This takes a lot of work and what says it will be fair in the future?

It's supposed to be a scholarship program, not a beauty pageant. I know, it is a "beauty pageant," but I have always thought (I'm an idealist) that it was more about the total package than just about how you look in swim and gown. Good stuff has to come out of your mouth in a coherent manner...and at Miss America, you HAVE to display a viable talent...(people make fun of alternative talents, but at least those take talent to deliver, even a creative monologue). Your record needs to be clean, your resume content needs to be TRUE and actually impressive, not padded and embellished. But, those girls never win. The ones who have actually accomplished great things in their young lives are overshadowed by the padded resumes, scoring based on false expectations, the director "hating you," fake and copy-cat platforms...I could go on and on.

Great job dispelling the stigma of pageants Miss MD Org...you just set yourselves back to the dark ages. You had some awesome opportunities for good publicity: an actual disney princess and cruise ship entertainer, an internationally recognized young woman for her work bringing awareness to her platform, a military officer, a doctor of pharmacy, countless graduate students, people with actual careers and credentials and talents.

Instead you chose a marginally pretty face (seen her without make up...), pretty body, fake sugary sweet personality, no talent, no speaking ability, not so smart, dog walker with a sugar daddy...well done MD. This could go either way, she could not place at all, she could actually place top something, she could win it all because if Miss America is turning into "just a beauty pageant" it could happen. Hang on to your recliners MD, here comes more absurdity from America's premier "scholarship program."
