Panther sightings are a common anomalous creature type. Some include humanoid encounters of "panther men."

Loren Coleman's Mysterious America covers phantom panthers and maned mystery cats to a great degree.

I myself grew up in a N. Texas area where there were panther sightings, and I heard them and saw huge tracks in the Red River mud. They do sound like a screaming woman. My cousin spotted one on his grandmother's property on several occasions. Interestingly enough, the name game also plays into that area, As it is located north of a town called Decatur, near Panther Creek, and just west of a feature called the Devil's backbone.

If any of you have read Coleman, you know what I'm talking about.
