Subject: Chapter 5

We get another look at the spiritual life of Judah. We have priests who were leading by their own authority. Prophets telling half truths. People who didn't seem to care that they were being lied to, because they were happy getting fat off the work of other people. In way you want to feel sorry for the people because their leaders, it seems, didn't let them know any better. But, then again you have Jeremiah who was telling the truth and no one believed him. They said it could never happen. Besides the fact they were the chosen people from God, they didn't know what army could stand against them. I guess they didn't know that Babylon was going to conquer Assyria and then become a great power.

I had a professor in college who said, "It matters what you believe, because you act on your beliefs, actions have consequences. It matters to have been wrong." Judah is an example of this saying. Judah believed that they were exempt from the judgement of God and that He would not hurt His chosen special people. They were wrong and put into captivity for 7- years because of it.

Star Wars Application: In Attack of the Clones we start to see Annikan's descent into the dark side. It starts with his pride, his belief that he is better than the rest of the Jedis, even Master Yoda. He believed a lot of things about himself that in the end we know will lead to his losing everything that he cares about.
