7.18.02

*The WWE screen appears. The picture cuts to last weeks Inaugural SmackDOWN! Brawl and the closing minutes of Austin and Benoits' eliminations. Then we go to the Cage Match between The Rock and Chris Jericho. Slow motion replays of Eddie Guerrero frogsplashing The Rock! Chris Jericho makes good on his promise and becomes the SD! #1 contender. The opening credits roll.*

*Before J.R. and Tazz can hype any matches, Mick Foley's music hits! The fans go ballistic!*

J.R.: My god! Could it be?! Could it be Mick Foley!? What's he doing on SD!

*Mick slaps some hands on his way to the ring. He rolls in and grabs a microphone.*

Mick: Thank you one and all. It's great to back right here, on the greatest WWE program of all time, SMACKDOWN!!!

*The crowd reacts to the cheap pop.*

Mick: Anyway, you all may have noticed the subtle hints that the execs upstairs have been dropping about my return. I'm here as the new SmackDOWN! Commissioner to make sure that SD! stays ahead in the ratings wars.

*Before he can continue, another familiar music track hits and Valerie Vargus, the owner of SD! comes out.*

Valerie: Listen, Mick Foley, I may have not been around for a long time but I know who you are. But I don't think you know that I own SD!.

Mick: Mrs. Vargus, I do know that. But you see, you may own this brand but Linda McMahon has assigned me as commissioner so I make the matches. You can either work with me or against me. I call the shots from here on out.

*He offers his hand to her. She pauses and thinks about it but after a moment she smiles and accepts the handshake!*

Valerie: I guess I can learn from you Mr. Foley.

Mick: I'm sure we can both be beneficial to each other. And call me Mick because that decision is FINAL!

*The crowd pops again as the scene cuts to the backstage area where Chris Jericho is getting ready to come out to the arena. No sooner is that said that the Y2J countdown hits and the Living Legend and SD! #1 contender to the Undertaker's Undisputed Championship makes his way into the ring to a chorus of boos.*

Jericho: Shut up jackasses! You have to respect the #1 contender! You have to respect the Living Legend! I was the first and now I'll be the fifth once I beat Undertaker and a RAW jobber and you'll just have to accept it for fact. Now you Mick Foley. You punk. Don't think that I forget so easily. It was over a year ago that I had a title shot against Stone Cold Steve Austin in Minnesota and what happened? Your fat as got in the way and I lost. I will never forgive you for that...

*IF YOU SMMEELLLLL, WHAT THE ROCK, IS COOKIN'! THE music hits and the crowd is on their feet again as The Rock makes his way out to the ring. His ribs are noticeably sore do to Eddie Guerrero's actions last week and J.R. comments on how despicable it was.*

Rock: Chris Jericho, do you know who I am?

Jericho: What the hell kinda question is--

Rock: It doesn't matter if you know who I am! I am the Rock. The People's Champion and up until last week I was on the fast track to winning the title. But no Chris Jericho. It didn't happen. But if you are so confident in your abilities. If you are so proud of how you beat The Rock. Then why don't you try to beat The Rock again, tonight?

J.R. My God! The Rock vs. Chris Jericho tonight? They both went through hell last week and we are gonna get an encore?!

Jericho: Yeah. Okay. You and me tonight.

Mick: Excuse me? The both of you need to calm down. Remember who's the commissioner. Rocky, Chris if you two want each other tonight it's fine... in a tag team match. The Rock and The Undertaker will team up tonight to take on Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. On top of that, Ric Flair will referee this match just to make sure it is run legit. And on top of THAT, I've decided to make a few more matches, namely, for Vengeance. Rock, I see that look in your eyes and I know what you want. You want Eddie Guerrero in the ring so I'm going to give it to you.

*Another crowd roar.*

Mick: And your buddy, Stone Cold Steve Austin is at his wick's end with Chris Benoit. So those two will go at it at Vengeance. But I have a feeling that Austin has so much rage built up that'll he'll just destroy Benoit so I'm giving Benoit a chance. It'll be Steve Austin versus Chris Benoit in a submission match.

J.R.: Submission match? God, that'll be one to see.

Tazz: A regular rocketbuster!

Mick: And I'm making one more match right here, right now for Vengeance. It'll be a one-on-one match. The recently returned Jeff Jarrett will take on the man he hates but yet somehow emulates, Ric Flair! And now THAT decision is FINAL!

*His music hits as Mick leaves with Valerie in tow. Jericho and Rock stares each other down as we go to a commercial break.*

Booker T vs. Christian
*Tazz says that both of these men have a point so far but They are fighting for the chance to not have to take part in the Sunday Night Heat match to determine the #2 guy for the title. The match starts out and is very fast paced from the beginning on out. Booker lands a savant kick on Christian and follows up with a huge knee drop for only 1. Christian reverses a whip and Booker telegraphs it and is met with a swinging neckbreaker. Christian up and posing. Booker grabs him y the tights and tosses him outside. Booker goes up and to the outside with a cross body! CHRISTIAN SIDESTEPS! Booker crashes into the gaurdrail while Christian rolls in. The ref begins the count but Booker is able to make it in at 8. Christian stomps away and hits a sit out powerbomb for 2. Christian stomps at Booker in the corner. Booker rolls out of the ring. Christian follows and slams Booker into the announcer's table. Christian goes into the ring and up top. He jumps off and this time Booker moves and Christian slams into the table! It breaks into a million pieces and Christian is KOed. Booker rolls in. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10! Christian is counted out. Booker nails a Spinaroonie and after the match he helps Christian up and the two shake hands. Christian has a date with Heat.*

Winner: Booker T by countout

*Commercial break.*

*Backstage Eddie is getting ready for his match. He's watching a tap of Rey Misterio Jr. and his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr. in a tag team match against Edge and Hollywood Hulk Hogan from last Monday night's RAW. He swears in Spanish as the Hurricane the new Can-Am Connection win the match.*

Eddie: How dare that little superhero make a mockery of the Spanish...

*As he's ranting to himself Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho walk into the room. Eddie turns off the TV.*

Jericho: Aight guy, tonight is the night we make claim to the top spots of the WWE. The three off us have always gotten heat because we weren't big enough and weren't flashy enough. We jump around too much, that's what They say. Well I say it ends. Eddie, my and Benoit are going to go out there and beat *he says the next two words in the mocking voice that he always has) "The Rock" and Undertaker. You Eddie are going to beat the so-called Man Beast and go on to win the United States title this Sunday AND beat "The Rock". Benoit is going to make Austin tap out and I.... I am going to go on to beat The Undertaker and Kurt Angle to once again become the Larger than life, living legend, Undisputed Champion of the WWE. Comprede?

Eddie: Yeah essa.

Benoit: Definitely. We will take The Rock, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle and all the rest and prove.. them... wrong!

*The three nod in agreement and pound fists. Benoit and Jericho leave. Eddie picks up the remote and turns the tape of RAW back on while continuing to mutter profanities at Hogan and Edge.*

Damaja and Doug Basham versus Kevin Nash and Scott Hall
*J.R. tells the fans that whomever wins this match will pull double duty tonight and take on The Impact Playerz and The Natural Born Thrillers with the winner to meet Billy and Chuck of DX at Vengeance for the Tag titles. Victoria escorts her men to the ring. The nWo music hits and The Outsiders make their way to the ring. The four men meet on the outside and start to slug away at each other. Victoria takes her place at ringside but suddenly out from the crowd comes Molly! Molly slams Victoria's head into the steel stairs! Basham sees this and goes outside to stop Molly. Molly is too quick and leaves the way she came. Meanwhile, inside the ring Hall and Nash double team Damaja. They quickly hit a double chokeslam variation of High Times. Hall makes the pin while Nash wards off Bahsam. The match is quickly over.*

Winners: Scott Hall and Kevin Nash

*Coachman in backstage near the interview area when an out of breath Women's Champion runs by. Coach stops her and asks her about her actions.*

Coach: What was that Molly? Why did you attack Victoria like that?

Molly: I was making a point Coach. That message is for Jazz too. If the two of them want to come into the WWE and try to take my belt then They have another thing coming. A pure and virtuous woman like myself has no peers, has no equals. I am--

WHAM!!!

*Victoria has recovered and ran backstage to take out Molly. The two of them start beating the hell out of each other. Coach tries to separate them to no avail as the scene cuts to a commercial.*

*Backstage Valerie Vargus and Mick Foley are in their joint office. Actually, it's one office with a backroom. Foley has his gavel step up next to a folding lawn chair in the bathroom. He's dancing like a goof while Valerie is at a real desk going over some paperwork. There's a knock at the door. Valerie and Foley simultaneously beckon whoever it is to come in. Both of them stand up with angry looks on their face when They see who it is.*

Foley: What the hell do YOU want?

X-Rodd: Calm down, I come in peace. I just want to chat about this Sunday.

Valerie: Well we don't want to hear from you. You're scum Rodd. You're worse them scum. Calling you scum is an insult to actual scum. Leave. Now.

X-Rodd: Just hear me out and I'll be gone in 5 minutes.

Foley: ...fine. Be quick.

X-Rodd: Thank you, I knew cooler heads would prevail. As you know, after a huge match you nominated Chris Jericho to take on The Undertaker and The Undertaker and I haven't been seeing eye to eye lately. On top of that Kurt Angle got the RAW spot instead of Triple H. This isn't good for me. Vince McMahon and myself are both barred from ringside but not you. Neither of you are barred from ringside. So I was wondering if either of you Could.... make sure that Jericho wins I would greatly appreciate...

Foley: You have the balls to ask us cheat for you? Get out.

X-Rodd: But--

Valerie: Security!

*Fit Finley and Johnny Ace come in and grab the RAW owner by the arms and drag him out of the office. The camera follows to the parking lot where he's tossed out the door. Back in the office both Foley and Valerie shake their heads in disbelief.*

*Commercial break.*

Matt Hardy versus Leviathan
*The nWo music hits and Leviathan makes his way to the ring. The old Hardy Boyz music plays as Tazz comments on the match Matt's brother Jeff had with Tommy Dreamer this past week on RAW. It's time to see if both brothers can get victories. Matt starts off with some stiff shots that Leviathan shrugs off, picks Matt up and rams him into the turnbuckle! Leviathan picks him up and hits his huge spinebuster and goes for the pin. He would have had the three count had Matt not been close enough to the ropes to get his foot on it. D'Von runs out. He's not dressed as a priest anymore but instead is wearing black jeans, a black t-shirt and a camoflauge jacket. He runs in and hits a twisting reverse DDT on Leviathan. Matt holds Leviathan's legs up while D'Von hits the flying headbutt to the groin. The referee calls for the bell as Matt lands a Twist of Fate. Matt and D'Von celebrate as Leviathan groggily gets up. Hall and Nash rush the ring but Matt and D'Von leave through the crowd.*

Winner: Leviathan by DQ

*The Undertaker arrives to the arena on his motorcycle. He tosses the keys to a stagehand and yells at him not to scratch it. Chris Jericho bursts in from around the corner with a lead pipe in hand. He bashes away at Undertaker. The Deadman falls to the ground and screams in pain as Jericho wails away on his knee. Jericho finally stops and spits on The Undertaker before leaving.*

Jericho: See ya on Sunday jerky.

*Commercial break.*

*The glass breaks as Stone Cold Steve Austin enters the SmackDOWN! arena to a rousing ovation. Tazz is still lamenting on Chris Jericho's attack. Austin gets into the ring and picks up a microphone.*

Austin: I'm out here for a simple reason. I don't have a match tonight. Chris Benoit doesn't have a match tonight. What? I said his sorry carcass doesn't have a match tonight and I don't want to wait until this Sunday at Vengeance. The last time I was in the Joe Louis Arena for a PPV was Survivor Series 99 when I got my ass run over! Benoit is a sorry S.O.B. Benoit cost me my title shot so I'm going to cost him his life. Benoit, get your ass out here.

*Our Lady Peace hits and Chris Benoit makes his way out to the rampway.*

Benoit: Austin, Austin, Austin, I really don't want to have to break your neck again right here on SmackDOWN! I was hoping you cold wait until this Sunday but apparently not.

*He drops the microphone and starts to walk down to the ring when Eddie Guerrero runs in through the audience and hits a spinning heel kick on the Texas Rattlesnake! Benoit runs into the ring and both men start to lay the boots in to Austin. Benoit goes up and lands a flying headbutt. Guerrero goes up to and lands a frogsplash. The Rock soon runs out to the ring and runs both men off. He tries to check on Austin but Stone Cold is in a blind rag. Kick, wham STUNNER TO THE ROCK! Austin just walks off pissed as The Rock gathers himself. He shakes his head in disbelief as we cut to a commercial.*

Rhyno versus Eddie Guerrero

*Rhyno ramps Eddie into the turnbuckle to start. Tazz plays up the fact that the loser of this match is automatically eliminated from the tournament due to neither of them scoring a victory yet. The match is very formulaic until the very end when Eddie hits a neckbreaker and goes up top for the frogsplash when The Rock runs out. He's still groggy from the last segment but he is able to push Eddie off of the top rope behind the ref's back. Rhyno nails a capture suplex and then hits a huge Gore for the win and a spot on Heat.*

Winner: Rhyno

*In the aftermath of the match The Rock starts to wail away on Latino Heat while Rhyno celebrates and leaves to the back. Rock lands a huge Rock Bottom on Eddie and his music hits while we fad to a commercial.*

*Backstage Trish Stratus is walking around when she walks right into DDP.*

DDP: Hello Trish!

Trish: Hi Page...

DDP: You look sad. What's the problem Trish?

Trish: There's no problem at all. I'm just getting ready for my match tonight...

DDP: Okay Trish. And don't feel bad if you lose. Remember, losing isn't a bad thing, it's.... a good thing. Because if you lose then that only makes you want to get better for your next match. It will improve your body. Now doesn't that make you feel better?

Trish: I guess.

DDP: And now I like me, you like me, and I just helped you... like you.

*He grins and walks away. Trish is still in disbelief as Stacy Kiebler walks up.*

Stacy: Don't listen to him Trish. I'm going to kick your scrawny little ass tonight and THAT is definitely a good thing for me.

Trish: Well that's your opinion Stacy but--

*In mid sentence Trish just wails away on Stacy! The two of them are on the ground fighting when DDP walks back into the scene.*

DDP: Now THAT is a good thing.

*He grins and the audience laughs as the scene fads to black.*

Bra & Panties Match
Trish Stratus versus Stacy Kiebler

*Tazz is excited for this match with due cause. Stacy slaps Trish and throws her down by the hair. Trish recovers and hits a boot to the gut and whips Stacy who does a cartwheel to celebrate only to be met with a foot to the face. Trish rolls Stacy up and takes off her pants to the crowds delight. Stacy is pissed as she tosses Trish to the corner and starts landing some stiff kicks. Stacy then actually suplexes Trish. Stacy removes Trish's top to another crowd pop. Stacy holds Trish in a headlock. Trish reverses the headlock into one of her own. She bounces off the ropes and lands the Stratusfaction out of nowhere! She removes Stacy's top for the win. Tazz is excited but Stacy takes her own top and chokes Trish with it until she passes out. Stacy lost the match but she leaves pleased.*

Winner: Trish Stratus

*Commercial break.*

Justin Credible and Lance Storm vs. Sean O'Haire and Mark Jindrak vs. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall - Winner fights Billy and Chuck at Vengeance to crown new Tag Team Champions

*This is a huge triple theat match for everyone involved. Storm starts it out against Jindrak. Nash is tagged in but he decides just to stand in his corner. Storm controls the match with quick tags back and forth between him and Justin. Lance hits a thrust kick but when he goes for a second one Jindrak ducks and tosses Lance to the outside. Suddenly Matt Hardy and D'Von come back down to ringside! Matt hits the Twist of Fate on Storm. Justin comes around to stop it but D'Von catches him with a spinning reverse DDT for his troubles. Nash decides to use this opportunity to attack Jindrak. Nash pounds him into the ground and tags in Hall who hits a fallaway slam on Jindrak. Hall goes for the Razor's Edge but Jindrak falls out of the move and tags in O'Haire! Sean takes it to Hall and hits a Jungle kick. The ring erupts as all four men are in the ring but the referee can't call for the bell because then there wouldn't' be a winner. In the end though with Matt and D'Von still taking out the Impact Playerz Jindrak is able to double clothesline the Outsiderz. He takes Nash outside and O'Haire goes up and lands a Seanton Bomb. Hall kicks out! But Sean still finishes the match strong with a reverse DVD for the pinfall and the Vengeance match.*

Winners: The Natural Born Thrillers

Jarrett: What's up slapnuts? I'm here to watch an outstanding tag team match, nothing more nothing less.

J.R.: So you're not here to take out the referee, Ric Flair before Vengeance?

Jarrett: Of course not.

Special Guest Referee: Ric Flair
The Rock The Undertaker and versus Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho

*Jericho enters first followed by Benoit. Undertaker comes down on his motorcycle and Jericho jumps him! Flair tries to break it up but it met with a shot by Jericho. Undertaker tries to take over as The Rock runs down to the ring! Rock takes it to Jericho as Benoit runs out and tosses Undertaker into the ring to start the match officially. Benoit chops away on Deadman and controls the pace. Jericho and Rock are finally broken up by Flair and They retreat to their corners. Undertaker comes of the ropes with a flying clothesline to Benoit. Undertaker tags in The Rock. Benoit tags in Jericho. The crowd is pumped. Rock with some right hands. He's bringing it to Jericho. Vertical suplex is blocked. Jericho with the flashback for 2! Jericho kicks away at Rocky. Jericho hits a spinebuster and goes for the Y2Elbow but Rock kips up and pounds away on Jericho and hits a spin on the pine of his own. He locks in the Sharpshooter. Benoit tries to run in but the ref goes to stop him. Jericho taps but there is no ref to register the victory! Undertaker is pissed so he runs over to Benoit's corner and slams him off the apron. Undertaker chokeslams Ric Flair! Rock Rock Bottoms Jericho and goes for the pin but there is STILL no ref because of the Undertaker losing his cool. Rock tags in Undertaker instead and Taker lands some stiff shots to Benoit. Benoit goes behind Taker and lands a German suplex. He hits another and a third before going for the pin. Flair recovers but only to get a 2. Benoit tags in the 1st ever Undisputed Champion who starts to work over the current Undisputed Champion. Jericho with a bulldog into a Lionsault for 2. Jericho is frustrated. He nails a cheapshot on the Rock. Rock runs in as does Benoit. Benoit with some German's to Rock. In the confusion Undertaker rolls Jericho up for the 3 count!*

Winners: The Undertaker and The Rock

*After the match Eddie Guerrero comes down to the ring. He goes after The Rock but he gets a Rock Bottom instead. Benoit nails Rock from behind but Stone Cold Steve Austin comes down. He nails a Stunner on Benoit. He then stuns The Rock for the 2nd time tonight in a furious rage! Austin walks into the Walls of Jericho. Austin taps! If he does the same to Benoit on Sunday he'll lose! Undertaker knocks Jericho off Austin and then hits a Last Ride on Jericho. Meanwhile Jeff Jarrett runs into the ring with his guitar and takes out Flair. Just for good measure Undertaker chokeslams Jarrett. The show ends with Undertaker holding his hand in the air with the title belt and Rock, Austin, Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero, Jarrett and Flair are all laid out!*

*Leary and Coach segway us into the show. They run down the Vengeance card and say that on of the men in the U.S. title match will be determined tonight as RVD takes on D'Lo Brown with the winner locking a spot into the match. The loser will go to Heat to take on Rhyno, Christian and Booker T. Eddie Guerrero has already been eliminated from the tournament.*

Diamond Dallas Page and Mr. Perfect vs. Godfather and Perry Saturn

*Faarooq accompanies his team to the ring. Leary says that Perfect is one of the greatest IC champs ever and segways into a discussion on X-Pac vs. Steiner. He also says that DDP is a former WCW Champion so his team tonight should be favored. They also discuss the backstage antics of DDP with Trish from SD!. The match is fairly regular with the heels winning after Faarooq hangs Perfect up on the ropes so he walks into the DVD and Saturn finishes with the Rings.*

Winners: Perry Saturn and Godfather

*Commercial break.*

*The next match is a special one as Rikishi will team up with his cousins and new WWE superstars The Island Boys to take on an interesting team. But before the match the camera cuts to the backstage area with D'Von and Matt Hardy celebrating. Matt leaves to go get a drink when suddenly Raven comes out of nowhere with a kendo stick. He lays out D'Von and pins him!*

Winner and NEW Hardcore Champion: Raven

*Raven runs off with the belt and Matt comes back and quickly checks on D'Von and asks what happened when we cut back to the ring. The Islanders enter with Rikishi to his music while the heels enter to Regal's. Raven has his newly won title.*

Ekmo, Kimo and Rikishi vs. Rico, Raven and William Regal

*Ekmo starts out the match with Regal. Regal takes a pounding but scores with a thumb to the eyes to take advantage. Regal lands a stiff European Uppercut and tags in Raven. Raven tries to headbutt Ekmo but Ekmo shakes it off and Raven is dazed! He takes in Rikishi who goes to work. He hits a Rikishi Driver! He tags in Kimo. Kimo hoists Raven on his shoulders and Ekmo goes up and lands a senton on him. He crushes him on impact! Ekmo and Rikishi rush Regal and Rico while Kimo covers for the win!*

Winners: Rikishi, Ekmo and Kimo

*After the match Matt Hardy and D'Von runs out and go after Raven. Raven tries to run but he falls into the arms of Mike Awesome who came out of nowhere. Awesome picks up Raven and hits a triple powerbomb to Raven! Awesome holds on and nails a spinning powerbomb to Raven and easily pins him!*

Winner and NEW Hardcore Champion: Mike Awesome

*Awesome celebrates as a commercial for Vengeance airs.*

Three men...
One goal...
The Undertaker... Kurt Angle... Chris Jericho... quick and merciless. Vengeance.

*Back from the break Leary talks about Mick Foley's return into the WWE. We see clips form SD! and then we see X-Rodd trying to get Valerie Vargus and Mick Foley to work for him but to no avail. Leary wonders what Vince was thinking when he saw this.*

Val Venis versus Bradshaw

*Coachman spends a good portion of the match commenting on the main event from SmackDOWN! He also says that most people may count Austin out of his submission match with Benoit because he's a fish out of water in a match that is Benoit's speciality but you have to remember that Austin almost beat Bret Hart in the same type of match at Wrestlemania 13. During the course of the match Venis hits a blue thunder bomb only for Bradshaw to kick out. Rico runs out during the match and distracts Bradshaw. His Frogsplash misses as RVD rolls him up... for 2! RVD is mad as he lands a spinning leg drop and rolling thunder. D'Lo has his foot on the ropes. D'Lo with a whip into the ropes a modified Rock Bottom. D'Lo gets 2. He goes for a dropkick but RVD swat him out of the way. Brown to his feet but he walks into a spinning heel kick. RVD jumps up and lands the 5 star to secure a spot at Vengeance. D'Lo moves on to HeAT.*
