Very good points. Please give URL leh.

I think I understand liaoz... and agree. But...

First question: What is our style? What is PNP?

Once we got that answered, I think it'll be easier to identify our dress code. =)

Great work, Joel

Ok, I think its high time we really go thru this thingy about dress code. At least for the coming performance...

I think the overall idea is Rock Ballad. It could be Ballad, or Rock. I don't think we're slanted for Heavy Metal.

We need input here. What is everyone's idea of the style of our band?

For the sake of my comments below, I shall assume we've choosen Rock Ballad. The question is: How do we dress up to 'look' Rock Ballad? Together with this question is: What do we do different to make our character stand out from the hundreds of other bands out there?

For the first question, it could be jeans, or demin material. On the other hand, we should examine which culture we wanna follow? Americans' torn jeans and leather with lots of chains and other accessories? Or Japanese's Neo-Rock or Visual-Rock concept?

For 'gimmicks' to make us stand out, I've discussed with Joel quite some time ago about make ups. He mentioned one thing about make-ups being 'out' liaoz. Which striked me and I agree. Take X-Japan for example, they have the american 80s rock look mixed in with Jap's makeup earlier in their career. However, towards the late 90s, the overall rock scene from both america and japan shift towards a more casual look. No more 'big hair' and fancy make-ups.

On the other hand, my stand is that with talent alone, we will be missing out alot in terms of capturing audience attention. I feel we need to add good visual, kinestatic as well as audio experience to really do it well.

audio = talent in music, the very thing we are practicing every week.
visual = our dress code, attire, stage back-drop, etc.
kinestatic = show-man-ship (like when I go crazy), lightnings.

We stimulate as many of the audience's senses, we make them remember. This is the same as the studies that go into Accelerated Learning or Mega Memory, etc.

I am suggesting we all contribute to this as not only is this a question of our band's identity, it concern our individual identity as well.

No, I'm not suggesting we do make-ups and paint lion-faces, style big hair and wear high-heels. I'm just willing to play with any idea that would make us stand out. Imagine yourself walking along somerset mrt and hearing some really nice music. You walk to the traffic junction and saw what happened. If you're not a music-siaoz, most probably you'll just cross the road to Cineleisure. But if you see something about the band's visual appearance that looks extraordinary, maybe you will consider sacrificing 10 minutes of your time to cross over to youth park instead.... I hope I got my point across.
