Okay, here comes part 2.... Just as a refresher, the only ones left were me, Tuffle, Milly, Shay and Zinnia. Anyways...
So on and on we walked. the weather did not improve, infact I think it got worse! We had awful storms and fast winds. There was hardly a day when the sun came up. This had a dreadful effect on my siblings and I. We became very withdrawn. We spoke little, ate little, and slept little. We walked a lot. At night, Tuffle, Milly, Shay, Zinnia and me cuddled up close together to keep warm. On one such night, my siblings were cuddled up together and fast asleep. I had taken to wandering at night. On this night, I wandered near my parents' tent. they had pitched a dockleaf tent a little distance from where we slept. I could hear them conversing in hushed whispers. I decided to listen in. Why not? I reasoned.
" How many of them are left?"
"I think only five. I haven't counted in awhile.."
"Good. Your plan is working. They'll all be dead in no time. But why did you have to have ten kids anyhow? We would've been fine with just Kare and Mat!"
"I can't really control that, my dearest..."
"Oh. Well, we had best get back to sleep."
"yeah."
My dad turned out the lantern. I was surrounded in darkness and silence. I ran back to my siblings. I hurriedly woke them all up and explained what I had heard. They were shocked and hurt. We mutually decided to run away before any more of us died. We also knew where we were going to run to: This Redwall place. While we walked in the direction we thought was north, I pondered why our parents would try and kill us off. I came to no conclusion. To this day, I am clueless.
We walked on and on and on. Tuffle was sure we were lost. He suggested that we turn back and go to our parents. Milly said we could explain to them that we overheard them talking. Zinnia added that we could act really cute and cry and sniffle. Shay thought that would make them love us more. I tried to convince my siblings that it was the craziest idea I had ever heard of, but they had their minds set on going back. So, we parted ways. Milly, Tuffle, Shay and Zinnia went back to our parents and I persisted on in search of Redwall. Sadly, the next day, I came upon that abbey.
I was so happy to have finally arrived. They gave me good food and warm clothes. I explained to them my journey, and they actually beleived me! Some fellow dibbuns gave me a tour of the place, and I loved it. I still do. Sometimes I wonder about my siblings. I hope they are still alive. I wonder why my parents hated me. I even wonder about old Azeala and who does her cleaning now! But mostly, I am glad to be at Redwall!
