Subject: Christy and Manny are back!!!

Hi Everyone,

Well, we got back last night just before 9. It was a long trip. Just (I think by 20km) under 16000 km for the trip and 35 days. We had a great time and got along really well so that's a bonus: ) We have some things for everyone, so I guess that means that we need to see you. What are the plans of the people that are in town for the weekend? I guess that means Lee and Jon. Maybe we can see you.

Hmmm. How should I start? I hope you all got our postcards. We had a good time picking them out and writing them. Let's see. We started our trip on June 20 and headed to Kansas where we spent 2 days with my relatives. Then we headed south through New Mexico to Arizona and the Grand Canyon. We hiked down 3 miles and then back up in +100 degree weather. It was not fun, although Manny would like to go back and hike the whole way across. 27 miles I think. I have a suspicion that there are those of you who would be crazy enough to think this sounded like fun. Dave, maybe you and I can wait at the top for them and just enjoy the view. After that, we headed to Las Vegas where we spent two nights. It is a great city. We weren't sure what to expect but it was a lot of fun. From there we went south to California, through Joshua Tree Nat'l Park which is amazing and for you climbers I hear that it's an excellent spot. Then we hit San Diego and went to the zoo which is nice, but the Toronto zoo is definitely comparable. We then drove up the coast and visited some more of my relatives in Camarillo which is just north of Los Angeles. Next we stopped at the Monterey Aquarium and then we were in Palo Alto with Andrea. We spent two nights there and cooked a great meal with Andrea's friends. Unfortunately she had to head to a conference, so we were off again. We hit San Francisco for an afternoon and then went east to Yosemite. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was amazing! One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. From there we headed west again and did some wine tasting in Sonoma which was great even though I don't like wine. I think we'll have to get a group together and go on a little tour in Niagara on the Lake. From there, we headed north right up hwy 1 along the pacific coast. We had a bit of trouble with some off-roading getting from California to Oregon that we won't get into now. All I will say is that it appears that Kia makes an indestructible car. We toured the Oregon caves and then went north to Washington. We saw Seattle, crossed the border in Blaine which has an amazing state/provincial park, drove through Vancouver at rush hour and met Wes in Whistler. We had a fabulous meal that Manny still talks about and then went north to Prince George. We spent three nights there with my uncle, canoeing and swimming and just relaxing. Then we went south down the icefields parkway through Jasper and Banff before we got to Calgary. We saw Manny's brother and some good friends of my family and then we were on our way home. Three days later we were finally back after an amazing trip, although I think we were both ready to be home.

It was great to see my family last night, although my mom wasn't here. She's in Barrie for a funeral and there are lots of problems with my grandfather (I'm sure you've all heard the stories). Hopefully I'll get to see her tonight. We're having dinner with Manny's family tonight to tell them all about our trip, and I really want to see all of you guys soon.

Oh, the other big news at my house is that my parents new child, a Toyota Matrix, now lives here. I hear that they are fairly obsessed and my mom washes it twice a week. My sister's only been in it 3 times. Well, it is pretty nice, so you'll all have to go for a ride.

Hmm, I guess that's all the news I have. I hope this isn't too long. I'm not really familiar with message boards.

It's nice to be back. I hope to see you all soon,

Christy

PS Dave, we stayed in a motel on Tuesday night in Wawa and I got to see half of the Mole. It's Bill, don't you think?
