Subject: HEAD 'EM UP, MOVE 'EM OUT!

Today I found George in the parking lot (this has nothing to do with George) checking loading procedures. Evidently some muckity in the big house whom I shall in the future refer to as He Who Should Not Be Seen has the idea that there's a problem to cure by capturing time squandered by carriers in the loading process. I wish I had all the time they think I'm screwing them out of. Nonetheless, with clipboard it tow, will evidently take up some of his day in this operation. The numbers suggest a problem (NDBS) and I'd certainly be in favor of looking into the operation to see what there is. But from my view point (which is the wrong end of the camel I will admit) this seems a bit bass ackwards. I mean, shouldn't you look at the numbers and see where the problem is and go about fixing it. It carrier on route 98 is taking a half hour to load a vehicle, wouldn't skulking around in the shadows watching everybody be a bit much when you can see where you need to concentrate your effort? I'm might lend the opportunity to do a little one on one with someone and actually fix the problem if there indeed is one. (there is the possibility that there's an issue which requires more time and that too would be good to know - of course you'd still have to discipline someone so He Who Should Not Be Seen knows you're on top of things. And isn't discipline the really issue here anyhow. It's easier to leave a paper trail with discipline than to correct a problem with guidance and leadership. Ouch!
