Hello All:

Whenever I am programming or writing, I listen to a lot of music. At work and at home, I scan music services to see what is new out there. Music@Netscape (formerly Spinner) and WinAmp sometimes have some good material. Recently, I heard cuts from Ryan Adams' "Demolition" and it is good. I am a fan of his since the release of "Gold", and "Demolition" is no let down.

Ryan Adams is what you would get if you mashed Neil Young, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Bonnie Rait into one person. There is a bluesy-folksy-county-punk aspect to his songs that is unique and refreshing. The genre is impossible to pick out, but you can tell that he borrows a lot from the 1970s electric-folk revival (think Credence Clearwater Revival meets Lou Reed). However, this is not a simple reharsh of earlier styles. No, no, no... Ryan Adams blends this into his own distinctive sound. It just feels old and familiar as if you were listening to a true classic rock radio station, and yet it stands apart as something new.

You can check out the entire album at the following web site
http://channels.netscape.com/ns/music/ch/songs_sessions.jsp?floc=MU-SONG-HOME-RADAM
Cut and paste this link into your browser. You'll also need the latest Real Audio player, and that is free.

This gets 3.75 concussions of 4, and thus comes highly recommended.

(I rate these based on the number of times I bang my head against my desk to fix my headphones jack).

Enjoy.
