Remember when Dick Tracy's watch was unbelievable?
Things are changing so fast now.
*Use of PDA's has increased 80% in our Division alone in the past year!
*What I am seeing mostly are ways to use technology to save the cost, and hassle of business travel. We are using more teleconferencing, conference call, and web-X conferencing. Each trip is carefully considered to see if another method would be as effective as a face-to-face visit.
*We are using online reservation systems now also.
*E-pay systems and online ordering of supplies is commonplace now.
*Intranet sites for almost every department have been developed to put information out in a readily available form and to save phone calls to get questions answered. I have built and maintain 13 sites, and I am setting up an online forum for our managers on the Intranet next week. (This class has shown me that system can really be beneficial!)
*Change is so fast, we just need to keep ourselves in the middle of it and be proactive to the next "new thing".
