In my county, the ballot was printed in the newspaper prior to the election...and a sample ballot was posted at the polling place so you could take a final look. There were people there to answer any questions you had and if you had a problem, there were people to tell you how to correct your problem.
If you're voting absentee and have a question, call or stop in the elections office to ask. If you're voting in person be sure you have your voter card and ID and have checked the sample ballot and understant it or ask the polling personnel before you vote.
Voting takes advanced thought, it means looking at the blank ballot before you go into the booth and being sure you understand how to fill it out, taking your time in filling it out so you don't make a mistake, and finally, looking at it carefully and double checking it to be sure you got it right before you leave the booth and deposit it. In short, it means taking RESPONSIBILITY for being informed, for making sure you understand the instructions and for filling out the ballot correctly. With voting comes responsibility and in voting, as in so many other things, we have to accept the responsibilty for our actions.
While I agree, a uniform voting procedure and uniform ballots might help as well as taking a hard look at our voting process locally and nationally but...the solution must start with each of us accepting the responsibility casting our ballot places on all of us. God Bless America and the freedom to vote...responsibly.
