So much for sacrificing the season.

Just one day after reports swirled that Yellowknife Blades GM might trade away some of his bigger names, it appears that Hayes has made one more effort to sacrifice this season.

Coming to the Blades is star RWer Owen Nolan from the Steeltown Hammers. Heading to the Hammers are 2 young promising prospects in Stanislav Chistov and Josef Balej that Steeltown can add to their nucleus of younger talent. Also heading to Steetown was an undisclosed amount of cash to bring them out of the red and to buyout a portion of Nolan's contract.

"Owen is proven leader" remarked Hayes.

"He also provides us with another scorer on the right side that was lost when we moved Kovalev."

It is expected that Nolan will line up on the Blades first line with Modano and Alex Tanguay, moving Doan down the the second unit with Vincent Lecavalier and Mike York. However, newcomer Mark Parrish who has been playing well of late may stay on the second line leaving Doan relegated the the third line with Matt Cooke and Rod Brind'Amour. Doan currently has the worst plus minus on the team at a abbysmal -28.

A shakeup was needed in Yellowknife once again. And once again, Hayes has not hesitated to make a move.

Will Nolan help the Blades into the playoffs? Time will tell. One thing is for sure. If this Blades team does not start winning games, Hayes will be undoubtedly making even more changes to this underachieving squad.
