I had a similar gender breakdown of chores in my household. It is interesting because my sister was also an athlete. She was actually a much better athlete than my younger brother, yet she was not expected to do any of the outside work. My grandfather is similar to your dad in expecting women to do certain types of chores. It seems that this idea gets more old-fashioned with each generation. I know that my mom would've flipped out if I tried to claim dish washing was a female job.
