Subject: Question: Cat with abscess
In reply to: Patty 's message, "Medication advice for canine abcess/bacterial & allergic reaction?" on 08:29:14 08/31/02 Sat

I couldn't figure out how to post a question, sorry.
My cat has what I believe to be an abscess on its hip. It's painful to the touch and he's acting like he's sick. I can't afford to spend alot of money on vet bills but the abscess is not open. It's under his skin and the wound is very small. Does anyone know anything that I can do to help this at home? Please? Also how long can a cat live with this problem? I believe he's had it for longer than I first thought.

I have a 3 month old female dog. When we brought her home our older male cat reacting by biting her on her lower back. She has now developed a large hard lump on her back. I am not able to get her to the vet for a few days. I was wondering if there is anything that I can do at home to reduce the swelling or eliminate the lump all together. Any tips on how to drain it?
Thanks
